Children in Year 2 are usually aged between six and seven years old. They follow an active curriculum which further promotes lots of talk and learning through developmental play. Phonic work continues and children begin to acquire more advanced reading skills together with learning how to write with increasing independence. Thematic work continues to be based around stories and the local environment and the children are provided with ‘hands on’ learning experiences. Student learning follows the new English National Curriculum across all subjects areas, including English, Maths, Science, Design and Technology, History, Geography, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Computing, Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE), and Myanmar Language and Culture and Madarin Chinese.
