MISY Myanmar International School Yangon

Secondary

Welcome to the MISY website! We are delighted that you are interested in our school and we hope that you will learn something of our activities from here.

We are an international school which follows the English National Curriculum and we welcome students from all countries to study here; our school is a happy, welcoming one and we are proud of our diversity.

The secondary school prepares students for the Cambridge IGCSE examinations, which are taken in year 11. These are followed by Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level exams in year 12 and finally the Advanced Level (A2) exams in year 13. Students move on from MISY to universities in Europe (including the UK) North America and Asia. A comprehensive programme of advice and counselling takes place from year 10 onwards, so that our students are well-prepared for the choices that they have to make. This year, for example, the school is hosting a college fair, sponsored by the British Council.

From arrival in the Secondary School all students study a broad range of subjects as required in Key Stage 3 of the English Curriculum: we offer special help for those whose English needs special attention. Courses include the Myanmar language and Mandarin.

MISY is proud of its sophisticated pastoral system, where all students have a homeroom (class-) teacher who looks after their general welfare. Regular parent-teacher consultations are held and reports are issued twice a year.

MISY has a strong House system, involving competition in sports, extra-curricular activities and community service. There is an active student council.

MISY classes are small: the maximum class size is 22. Every child receives high quality teaching from a well-qualified international staff.

We are a busy, happy school and we hope that you will learn more about us from this website.
