In May 2009, a group of teachers, staff and I began work to open MISY. With a huge amount of hard work, we did absolutely everything we could to be able to open the school in August—only four months later.
MISY has now grown to over 600 students whose learning is supported by over 100 staff. The school has received accreditation and commendation from the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and our students now sit for the worldwide recognised University of Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level exams.
I have been in Myanmar for 20 years. During that time, I have had the opportunity to open three other international schools. All three of them are presently in operation and are successful international institutions. I feel honored to have had the opportunity to do a small part to help the people of our host country, Myanmar. These days, I have slowed down a little and I am not playing as active a role at MISY as in the past. However, I still work daily and use my experience and knowledge to help MISY grow and develop.
The future for MISY, as is the case for Myanmar, is very bright. There will no doubt be many more people coming to this country and our school will continue to grow and improve.
We thank everyone--especially our dedicated staff, teachers and parents--for their hard work, dedication and efforts in helping MISY become a huge success in such a short space of time.
